1st and 3rd Thursdays, September to May:

Due to popular demand (that's right), in September 2009, after a year's hiatus, the Little Dixie Old-Time Fiddle Club will return to the Boone-Walters Historical Museum in southeast Columbia, Missouri.  The sessions will again be held on each first and third Thursday of the month, September through May, from 5.00 to 8.00 pm.  Our emphasis is on traditional fiddle music.  All levels of experience are welcome, but we ask that everyone observe "jam session etiquette."  The Boone-Walters museum is in Nifong Park, southeast Columbia (from US63, east off of US63 at the AC / Grindstone Parkway exit, then south on Ponderosa Drive to the Museum).  Our host will be the Boone County Historical Society (thank you Jennifer Flink!).  Contact:  Boone County Historical Society, (573) 443-8936, email BCHS@Socket.Net, or Howard (Rusty) Marshall, club secretary, (573) 642-6226, email HMarshall@Socket.Net.  "Lay it on, Leon!"

First Saturdays in Stockton

The First Saturday of the month music gatherings have started their third year at the Stockton Community Building.
Music begins about 6:30 p.m.  All musicians are invited and it is open to the public at no charge.  These will run through April.

Every other Saturday in McDowell

The McDowell Gold Jubilee, held in the Barry County community of McDowell, MO, and located in the SW corner of the state, will begin with the first session of its 24th year on Saturday, October 13. The program, under the direction of Betty and Ben Henderson, Monett, is held
every other Saturday night from October until the first of May .  It is an "entertainment-style hootenanny", with amateur and semi-professional entertainers appearing regularly onstage.   Music begins at 6:30 and continues until all the participants have been featured. The event is free to the public and concessions help with the expenses of upkeep, electricity and heating. Acoustic instruments are the preferred form of musical accompiment for the program, which consists of bluegrass, country/western and gospel.  Performers are requested to keep their sessions to three numbers for a single and twenty minutes for a group. An old school building located on south Hwy VV midway between Monett and Aurora is the home of the program.  Seating is available, but conveniences are few.  Our outhouse, however, is most modern...electric lights...just imagine!  (And I've never seen a snake!). So y'all come, y'hear?  And experience some of our old-fashioned Ozark hospitality. Interested parties can contact Betty Craker Henderson at 417-235-3719 or by e-mail:  http://www.bettyh@sofnet.com
