The Missouri Folklore Society was founded in 1906 by Henry
M. Belden, Professor of English at the
The annual meeting, generally held in November, includes
displays of folk arts and crafts, publications, recordings, and artifacts;
papers on general and specialised topics relating to
Missouri Folklore; performances of traditional music; and other events keeping
with the purpose of the society. All persons interested in Missouri’s
cultural life and heritage are invited to join the
society and to attend the annual meetings.
