Cathy Barton and Dave Para announce the release of their 12th
album, “Sabbath Home,” a collection of some of their favorite
gospel songs. A special,
one-time concert featuring this music will be presented Oct. 13, 7:30 p.m. at
Thespian Hall in the couple’s hometown of Boonville, Mo. The concert
will also feature all the guest musicians who appear on the album.

Dave and Cathy always have enjoyed working in the studio with fine
musicians whose added creativity make a recording more
organic. For the upcoming October concert, they’re fortunate for all of
the guest musicians being able to participate, not only for many of the songs
on the recording, but also performances of their own choice.
David
Wilson of Springfield, plays fiddle, cello and mandolin; recording engineer
Pete Szkolka, a Columbia blues, jazz and rock
musician, added some keyboard; Pete’s colleague Kevin Hennessy plays
bass; old friends Bob and Melissa Atchison, now of Manhattan, Kan., helped out
on the classic quartet, “On the Jericho Road;” Knox McCrory added harmonica so some cuts; Tempe McGlaughlin, from Arrow Rock, sang a trio with Dave and
Cathy on a couple of favorites. When Dave and Cathy are at home they sing with
the First Christian Church Chancel Choir, directed by Janice Bradshaw. They
recorded the Sacred Harp song, “Africa,’
and helped on a couple of choruses.
These musicians will assemble for the first time for the one-time
concert. Like the recording session, it will be interesting to see what they
all come up with.
